Aches and pains could be eased with the right cuppa, an expert has shared
General aches and pains, whether cause by our age, arthritis, a fall, or even just a bad back, can really bring us down in our daily lives. But inflammation can be reduced by drinking certain types of tea, an expert has shared.
A self-help expert and wellness influencer, named motivationaldoc on TikTok, shared a video to his 3.3 million followers which listed different teas that help reduce inflammation in our bodies.
The expert said: "I want to keep you healthy because every disease, every ache, every pain, has inflammation. Get your teas out because teas can help reduce that inflammation."
Several studies have investigated the anti-inflammatory benefits of certain types of teas, particularly green teas and black teas.
One 2012 study published in the Journal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology and Research "concluded that both green and black tea leaves possessed a marked anti-inflammatory effect" also noting that green tea was found to be more active than black tea in reducing inflammation.
As well as green and black teas, motivationaldoc named several other teas in his video that he says boast anti-inflammatory health benefits.
Here's every tea the wellness guru says can reduce inflammation in our bodies, and the other benefits they each have on our health.
Black tea
Black tea offers several health benefits, including heart health support, improved gut health, and potential anti-cancer properties, thanks to its antioxidant content.
The social media health expert explains that black teas can also help reduce the risk of diabetes, and research also shows that it improves blood sugar levels immediately following meals in normal and pre-diabetic adults.
Green tea
Green tea is rich in antioxidants, offering potential health benefits like improved cardiovascular health, cognitive function, and weight management, as well as possible reductions in the risk of certain cancers and type 2 diabetes.
It is also thought to reduce hangovers.
Peppermint tea
Peppermint tea is caffeine-free, and aids digestion, eases headaches, and improves sleep quality.

Ginger tea
Ginger tea is made from the rhizome of the ginger plant.
This type of tea is known for its potential to ease nausea, aid digestion, as well as reduce inflammation, thanks to its bioactive compounds like gingerol.
Turmeric tea
Turmeric tea is rich in the antioxidant curcumin.
This offers potential health benefits as well as reducing inflammation, such as supporting joint health and potentially improving heart, brain, and digestive health.
The TikToker explains that this type of tea is good for easing arthritis.
Chamomile tea
Chamomile contains apigenin, an antioxidant that may help you relax and fall asleep.
It is thought that chamomile tea may help with insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
But while all these teas boast an impressive range of health benefits between them, the health expert explains the one thing that they all have in common.
He concludes: "Black teas decrease diabetes, green teas keep your heart strong, peppermint has the anti-cancer properties, ginger teas protect your gut, turmeric teas help treat arthritis and chamomile tea may soothe your belly. But they all reduce inflammation.
